1. Our principle
Children and young people have a right to be protected from content that impairs their development or puts them at risk. On a platform with live streams, chat and user-generated content we take this responsibility particularly seriously. Protecting minors is therefore not an add-on at MeinLive but an integral part of the platform: through age limits, clear rules, technical safety features, an easy way to report content and consistent moderation.
The binding rules for all users are set out in our terms of use. This page summarises what applies with regard to the protection of minors and explains how to contact us.
2. Age limits and age declaration
- You must be at least years old to create an account. Without an account you can watch public streams but cannot write messages.
- Going live, appearing as a guest in someone else's stream and buying coins is only possible from years. MeinLive checks this limit technically on every attempt – on the website and in the app.
- Your date of birth must be entered when registering, and the information must be true. Anyone younger than cannot create an account.
- Accounts created before the age declaration was introduced are asked to add their date of birth.
- If there are indications that an age declaration is wrong, we may request proof of age and restrict or block the account until the matter is clarified. Accounts of persons who are demonstrably too young are blocked.
A person who deliberately gives false information can get around an age declaration. That is why we additionally rely on the rules, safety features and moderation described below – and on the attentiveness of our community and of parents.
3. Rules for live streams, recordings and clips
Everything shown on MeinLive must be suitable for an audience aged and over. This applies to live streams, guests in streams, recordings, clips, thumbnails, titles, profile pictures and profile texts. In particular, the following is not allowed:
- nudity, sexual acts and sexualised depictions of any kind,
- depictions of violence, cruelty to animals and depictions of self-harm or suicide,
- dangerous dares and "challenges" that may encourage imitation,
- glorifying or instructing drug use, and excessive drinking on camera,
- advertising for gambling, betting or products that may not be sold to minors,
- filming other people without their consent.
No children or young people in streams: persons under may not be shown in live streams, as guests, in recordings, clips, thumbnails or profile pictures – not even briefly, in the background or with their parents' consent. We end violations immediately and suspend the account.
Streamers are responsible for their stream – including guests they bring into the stream, everything visible in the picture and background audio. Recordings are removed after 3 days by default; streamers can delete or hide them at any time. Clips from streams are subject to the same rules.
4. Prohibited and harmful content
Regardless of the audience's age, all content that is prohibited under the German Interstate Treaty on the Protection of Minors in the Media (JMStV) or that violates criminal law is forbidden on MeinLive. This includes in particular:
- pornography and any sexualised depiction of children or young people,
- incitement to hatred, propaganda and symbols of unconstitutional or terrorist organisations,
- glorification of violence or war and instructions for criminal offences,
- depictions of people who are dying or exposed to severe physical or mental suffering in a way that violates human dignity,
- content that has been included in the list of media harmful to young people or is essentially identical to it.
We remove such content as soon as we become aware of it and block the accounts responsible. Where there are indications of serious criminal offences – in particular depictions of child sexual abuse or a threat to life or limb – we inform the competent law enforcement authorities.
5. Chat, comments and private messages
- Only logged-in users can write. Insults, harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual remarks towards others and spam are prohibited.
- A word filter automatically blocks messages containing inadmissible terms. Streamers can also set their own word filter for their chat.
- Streamers and their moderators can mute viewers or ban them from the stream. The previous messages of the person concerned are hidden as well.
- The chat settings allow the chat to be slowed down, limited to followers, limited to emojis or switched off entirely.
- Private messages from people you don't follow arrive as a request first. You decide whether to accept the conversation.
- Anyone can block other users. Blocked people can no longer send you private messages or mention you in the chat.
Tip for young users: Never share your full name, address, school, phone number or photos of yourself in the chat or in private messages. Don't meet people you only know from the internet. If someone pressures you, asks for pictures or offers you gifts: block them, report them and talk to someone you trust.
6. Coins, gifts and purchases
- Buying coins is only possible from years. Payment is made exclusively via the payment service providers offered in the shop.
- Coins have no monetary value and cannot be paid out or exchanged for money. A limited number of coins is available free of charge for watching and chatting (no more than 100 coins per day).
- Gifts are always voluntary. Streamers may not put pressure on viewers, push them to send gifts or promise anything in return outside the platform. This applies especially to minors and leads to a ban.
- If a child or young person has bought coins without their parents' consent, please contact us (see contact). We will look into the case and refund purchases that are not valid.
7. Reporting violations
Reporting is easy and helps everyone. Every report is reviewed by our team – confidentially: the reported person does not find out who reported them.
- Emergency button: anyone who feels harassed in a live stream or in private messages taps the help button (lifebuoy icon). With one tap the person is blocked and reported as an emergency; the latest messages are secured as evidence and our team is notified immediately. For accounts under the button is especially visible. It also offers the Nummer gegen Kummer helpline and the emergency number directly.
- With an account: use the report function directly on the stream, on a profile or on a chat message (website and app). We secure the reported content for review.
- Without an account or for detailed information: write to us via the contact form (category "Protection of minors") or by e-mail to the address below. Please include the username or the link to the stream and, if possible, the date and time.
- In an acute emergency – for example a threat to life or limb – please call the police immediately (in Germany: 110, in the EU: 112).
Independently of us, you can also report content harmful to minors to jugendschutz.net or the Internet-Beschwerdestelle (German internet complaints office).
8. Moderation and measures in case of violations
We review reports as quickly as possible, giving priority to indications that minors are at risk. Depending on how serious the violation is, we take one or more of the following measures:
- hiding individual chat messages or removing content (e.g. recordings, clips, profile pictures),
- ending a running live stream immediately,
- a warning or temporary mute in the chat,
- temporary or permanent suspension of the account, and technical blocks in case of attempts to get around them,
- passing information on to law enforcement authorities where there are indications of criminal offences.
Protection in case of multiple reports: If an account is reported by several different people within a short time, MeinLive automatically suspends it provisionally and ends any running stream – even before our team has reviewed the reports. The final decision is then always made by a person from our team.
Those affected are informed about a measure and the reason for it. Anyone who thinks a decision is wrong can ask us to review it again via the contact form. All moderation measures are logged internally.
9. Safety features at a glance
Emergency buttonblock, report, get help – with one tap10. Information for parents and guardians
Young people aged and over may use MeinLive with their own account: watch streams, write in the chat, follow others and send gifts with free coins. They can only go live, appear as a guest and buy coins from years.
- Talk to your child about which streams they watch, who they write to and which information is better kept private.
- Show your child how to block people and report content.
- Use the parental control and purchase restrictions of your device or operating system as well as recognised child-protection software such as JusProg.
- Do not store payment details on devices your child uses on their own.
- If your child is younger than and still has an account, or if you want your minor child's account deleted, write to us – we will take care of it.

12. Legal framework
MeinLive is a service from Germany. The protection of minors is governed in particular by the German Youth Protection Act (JuSchG), the Interstate Treaty on the Protection of Minors in the Media (JMStV) and the provisions of the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065) on the protection of minors on online platforms and on handling notices of illegal content. Supervision of telemedia in the area of youth media protection lies with the Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (KJM) and the state media authorities.
We continuously develop our safety measures. We welcome suggestions on how we can improve the protection of minors on MeinLive.
